Contractors Licensing

As this service is discussed by a committee formed of experts from the public and private sectors with many references and headed by the director general of the Government Tenders Department, this depends on the availability of a number of applications to be considered altogether. Mostly, it does not take more than three weeks in case there is not shortages provided the licensing decision to be issued once every three months.

Notes

This service is considered a preparatory period for the person who is willing to practice the profession of contracting to complete the requirements to submit a contractor classification application in accordance with the requirements of the category, class, and specialization he wants. 

This service requires the cooperation of the following instructions from both  public and private sectors such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Central Bank, the commercial banks, Amman Municipality, municipalities, Engineers Association, Contractors Association, and Social Security Corporation.

Enabling the service applicant to prepare all classification requirements that qualify him to practice the profession of contracting within a period of four months as this service does not allow practicing the profession of contracting during the granted period.

Procedures

The procedures:
1.     Filling the approved licensing form properly.
2.    Attaching  required documents.
3.    Submitting to the Government Tenders Department.
4.    The application shall be checked to ensure its completeness.
5.     The application shall be received by contractors licensing committee.
6.    If the application is complete, the committee issues a decision to license the person for six months and endorsed by the Minister. 

Required Documents

The required documents: 
1.    Must be a qualified partner holding 30% of the company’s capital (if it is company) provided that he is authorized to carry on the administrative and technical matters. 
2.    Must be a full-time engineer with not less than two years of experience.
3.    Or a graduate of a community college in the field of engineering or survey with ten years of experience in the field of the specialization.
4.    Or full-time partner and have been working with another classified contracting company for more than (5) years as a founder-partner before leaving from such company.
5.     In the event of decease of any of the classified company owners.
6.    Conversion from an establishment to a company. 
7.    Confirmed balance of not less than ten thousand Dinars deposited in the bank for a period of not less than three months before submitting the application or a bank deposit of ten thousand Dinars or a licensed equipment (dumper 10m3 , or loader or grader). 
8.    A letter from the Companies General  Controller that all partners are not partners in any contracting or engineering company.
9.    A letter from the Persons Registry in the same purposes mentioned in item (8).
10.    To pass the readiness test.
