Introduction

ESARSV was established in 1974 according to an ad hoc act to care for military retirees and finding suitable jobs for them and their dependents. ESARSV is regarded as a public organization, financially independent, and it is related to the prime minister. It is a member of the Arab Veterans Union and the World Veterans Federation .

ESARSV's  Main  Objectives

1.   Improving the socio-economic situation of military retirees and their dependents.

2.   Building on the retirees’ experiences to serve the national development plans.

3.   Rehabilitating retirees in new fields

particularly information technology.

Executive Council's  Mission

This council is charged with the two main following assignments:

1.       Adopting ESARSV's plans and projects.

2.       Revising and ratifying the annual  budget

ESARSV  Management

The association is run directly by the general manager and HQ’s directors.

 

AFFILIATION

Joining / withdrawing from ESARSV is optional. The monthly fee is 1JD for officers and 1/2 JD for NCOs. The total number of the retiree members is 52849, of which 12226 officers and 40623 NCOS including 461 females.

The retirees' occupations and skills are varied and diversified and total about 300 ones.

ACTIVITIES

Agriculture:

1.     Cows' ranch:

    The cows' ranch includes 600 milking cows which produce about 5.5 tons fresh milk. It employs 27 military retirees.

2.     The Poultry Farm:

 The poultry farm includes 26500 chickens which produce 5.000.000 eggs annually. It employs 12 military retirees.

3.      The Citrus Farm:

Its area is 106 dunms in total (the dunm is 1000 square meters) 32 dunms have been leased since 2001 for 30 years.

4.       Bees Farm:

It contains 200 hives, each one produces   8-10 kgs honey

  Commerce & Industry

1.     Marketing electrical appliances  ,computers & equipments through installment .

2.     Private and taxi cars financing.

3.     Marketing mobile phones.

4.     Land Purchase Financing.

5.     Fire Extinguishers Maintenance.

6.     Manufacturing furniture , metallic & aluminum products

 

Press Olive Machine

Established recently on a- ten dunm area near the city of Salt . The building size is 720 square meters .It has cost about 730 .000 dinars .It began operating in September 2009  and employ 40 retirees .

Training

      University Students Instruction

·         Military training & national education for schools' students in cooperation with MOP

·         Computer courses in cooperation with royal commission of qualifying retirees (RCQR).

Military Training & National Education

1.       This program is implemented at 120 schools:

ten schools in every governorate .

2.       There are about 20000 students (6th, 7th and 8th grade) participating in the program.

3.       About 90 retired servicemen engaged in the program.

          ESARSV's branches directors lecture at these universities about the role of the Association in development.

          ESARSV engage 17 retired officers, rotated every two years, in teaching the military science course.

          Computer Courses

 

ESARSV runs an office charged with holding computer courses for military retirees. These courses are financed by King Abdullah II fund for development (KAFD) in coordination with the royal commission of qualifying retirees (RCQR). 10200 retirees took part in these courses.  Other 300 retirees , who were qualified in computer , found jobs at the ministry of education.

Services Projects

 

ESARSV runs the following service projects:

 

1.       QA Airport Taxi:

177 taxis, 27 of them owned by ESARSV   (20 of which was

acquired at the end of 2008).

2.       Small Cargo Trucks:

85 small trucks, in addition to 72 ones belonging to customs brokers.

 

3.       Passenger Buses & Transport Lines:

         Three buses in Zarka .

         Two Bus lines:

one in Ajloun .

one in Madaba

one in Zarka

4.         Providing logistic   support to friendly forces in combined exercises.

ESARSV cooperates with the     ministry of planning and International cooperation in three fields as shown.

Cooperative Societies

1.       According to His Majesty's directives to care for retirees, ESARSV adopted a plan for the years 2004-2010 to establish cooperative societies for the retirees. So far, (90) societies – including three for retired military females – composing of (5000) members have been established. These cooperative societies have benefited from a fund of (3.5) million JD.

Objectives:

A.       Creating new job opportunities for retirees to raise their living standards.

B.       Utilizing the retirees' experiences in the national development plans.

C.       Enhancing cooperation among retirees.

D.       Alleviating poverty and unemployment among retirees.

2.       These societies launched several productive projects such as: agricultural investments, sheep breeding, tourist projects (villages) computer training centers, medical centers, perfume plants, bricks and other manufacturing projects.

Most of these projects are 100 % successful, and they employ about 300 retirees.

Super Markets

3.        The JAF HQ gave permission to societies to open malls which get supplies from the Military Consuming Establishment .These super markets, total 41 ones, play an important role in fixing commodities prices and countering monopoly. Moreover, they manage to employ 252retirees.

4.        These super markets benefited from a donation from the Ministry of Planning totals 500 .000 JD.

JORDAN  REENACTMENT  PROJECT

1.     Jordan gained, through various historic phases, marvelous cultural heritage. Accordingly, Roman, Christian and Islamic castles and palaces are found in many parts of Jordan.

2.      Matching with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al- Hussein's pioneering ideas to re-enact and bring ancient civilizations back to life in historic and archeological sites , activities are going on for this purpose in Jerash , Petra and Ajloun.

Reenactment Project Goals

1.            Bringing the archeological sites back to life.

2.            Marketing Jordan's tourist sites locally, regionally and internationally.

3.            Opening new opportunities for retirees.

4.             Encouraging the establishment of societies concerned with archeology and heritage.

Cooperation  with  Jordan  Armed  Forces

1.       Reemployment of about 1500 retirees in technical fields (maintenance corps, KADDP, Air Force, Medical Services, Public Security and Civil Defense).

2.       Teaching the military science subject in 17 private universities.

3.       Training schools students (120 schools).

4.       Coordinating the support and supply process to cooperative societies

 

Other Activities

1.             ESARSV practices other business activities such as: entrepreneurship, cooperating with private sector in trade activities.

2.             Contributing in backing and distribution the Hashemite charity caravans parcels

3.            In cooperation with “the Investment World for Development and Technology Company’’ ESARSV Established an electronic academy at al-Balqa university.

4.             ESARSV managed to find opportunities for ex-servicemen in some Arab gulf countries as follows :

The Social Affairs

ESARSV cares of the welfare and needs of the retirees in order to improve their living standards and help them cope with the difficulties of life. This issue is dealt with as follows:

v  Supporting them with interest- free- loans.

v  Organizing two Umra trips annually, one during Ramadan.

v  Visiting ill officers at Hospitals

v  Studying dead retirees family situation and providing urgent support.

v  Honoring the retirees' distinguished sons.

v  Improving the retirees' officers clubs in Amman and Irbid.

v  Arranging festivals on national occasions .

2008_2009  Accomplishments

Agriculture

a.       Utilizing all the leased terrains and planting them with fodder crops.

b.       Using the terrains rent from the Armed Forces (600 dunams) in Al –Pakorah and providing it with electricity and barbed wires with a cost of150.000 JDs.

C.       Providing the citrus farm at Al Manshia with a new irrigation system and replacing the old trees with new ones .

d.        Buying new 100 hives and maintaining 120 ones for the bee farm .

e.       Buying 30.000 chickens for the poultry farm.

f.        Maintaining the cows' ranch.

g.       providing the cow's ranch with new truck and water tank.

Project Services

a.       Supporting the airport taxi office with20 modern taxis. ESARSV now owns 27 taxis- with a cost of 1/2 million JD – out of 177 0nes.

b.        Old buses replaced with new ones.

c.       Providing logistic support to the combined exercises.

d.       Adding a new part of 250 square meters to the main

ESARSV building and renovating the old one with a total cost of 60.000 JDs.

e.       Opening a new retirees club officers in Amman.

f.       Maintaining Irbid officers ' club.

Commerce

a.            Continuing the work with commercial companies to sell

electrical appliances at installment.

b.       Preparing a suitable place to be a commerce center for the commercial companies.

c.       Building a facility within the cows' ranch in al Khaldieh

to sell olive oil to retirees.

d.       Establishing a press olive machine near the city of Salt.

e.       Financing cars purchase for retirees.

f. Obtaining a good offer from Zain the mobile

telecommunications company.

Cooperative Societies

a. New 34 societies have been established during this period. The total number becomes 90 societies.

b.  New 24 super markets have been opened .The total number becomes 41 super markets.

c. Cooperation with Ministry of Planning and International cooperation continues to support and enhance these societies

SECURITY.  1200 more retirees were offered opportunities in this field. Total number becomes 4500. This significant increase is due to the prime minister's decision to make the security task in the public sector exclusively assigned to ESARSV.

TRAINING.

A.  20.000 students were trained in 120 public schools

B.  1385 ex-servicemen were trained on information technology. Total number becomes 10200.

C. Training 200 persons from "WE ARE ALL JORDAN" forum at the knowledge station located within ESARSV.

d.  The "Free Jump Team" participated in Amman military free jump contest and in Basil Al-Assad competition in Syria.

Social And Moral affairs

a. Unifying the retirees' efforts under ESARSV umbrella and putting an end to the previous atmosphere.

b.  Arranging festivals on national occasions particularly al-Karamah Battle.

d.   Visiting ill retirees admitted at military hospitals.

e.   Sending 200 retirees to Umra.

f.    Honoring the retirees' distinguished sons.

g.   Giving non -interest- loans to retirees.

h.   Participating in funerals for both active and retired servicemen.

i. Convening agreements with private universities to give special offers to retirees' sons and daughters.

Five –Year  Forecasts

1.     Enhancing ESARSV's social role among retirees

2.     Increasing the number of cooperative societies.

3.     Extending the military training project to include more schools and employ more instructors.

4.     Finding more job opportunities for retirees in the Gulf cooperation council countries.

5.     Increasing the opportunities in the security field.

6.     Attracting investors to cooperate with ESARSV in strategic public projects and to jointly invest abroad.

7.     Seeking the  ownership of public terrains to get utilized by ESARSV and the cooperative societies.

8.      Establishing a new ESARSV HQ building in the western or southern part of Amman.

Conclusions

      Armed with the royal directions and the government support, ESARSY made good accomplishments for the sake of retirees and Jordan  in general.

      Retirement is not the end of life. It’s the renewal of giving and loyalty based on experience to serve the national objectives (experiences never retire).

      Sincere efforts will continue to serve his Majesty’s national objectives.
