The Mayor of Amman is considered the tip of the administrative pyramid in the organizational structure of the Municipality, and is assisted by the Assistant Mayor, who is authorized by the Board with part of the Mayor’s responsibilities and by the Director General of the Municipality, who is assisted by a number of deputies. These are the Administrative Affairs Assistant, the Health and Environment Affairs Assistant, the Engineering Affairs Assistant, the Planning Affairs Assistant, the Districts Affairs Assistant, the Financial Affairs Assistant, the Workshops and Machinery Assistant, and the Sports and International Affairs Assistant. In addition, a number of departments are connected to the Municipality’s Director General. These are: the Research and Development Department, the Computer Department, the Tenders Department, the Legal Department, the Cultural Department, the Internal Control Unit, the Information and Public Relations Department and the Zaha Cultural Center.
