General Information
Introduction

The Corporation’s Establishment

 

The Vocational Training Corporation was established pursuant to the temporary Law number (35) for the year 1976, and currently function in accordance with Law number (11) for the year 1985 (The Vocational Training Corporation Law) and its amendments for the year 2001, and Law number (27) for the year 1999 (Vocational Labor Regulatory Law), through which the Corporation works on regulating vocational labor in the Jordanian labor market.

The Corporation’s Tasks

The Corporation performs the following:

·            Providing vocational training opportunities to prepare the technical workforce and raising its level of efficiency in the various non-academic vocational training levels and specializations, and working on diversifying vocational training, inclusive of:

1.        Vocational apprenticeship that allows the young and adults to undertake long-term organized training.

2.        The training of institutions’ employees in specialized training centers and in their work locations in order to raise their level of efficiency.

3.        Extensive and speedy training for various professions.

4.        Training in the fields of occupational safety and health.

·            Providing supporting guidance services for the establishment and development of small and medium enterprises.

·            Regulating the practice of vocational labor by classifying work locales and workers therein.

 

The Corporation’s financial resources consist of:

·            Funds allocated for it in the General Budget.

·            Revenue from exercising its functions.

·            Any grants, financial aid or assistance that is given to the Corporation and that the Council of Ministers decides to approve.

 

Types of Training Programs Implemented in VTC

·            Vocational Preparation Programs

 

1.        Training Program for the Semi-Skilled Level

This program aims to prepare manpower to the Semi-Skilled Level .The period of this program is determined according to the requirements of specialization with a number of hours not greater than 700 hours. The applicant for this program must have the ability of reading and writing and not younger than 16 years old. The graduate is given a certificate in the Semi-Skilled Level after completing the requirements of the training program and passing the standard test.

  

2.        Training Program for the Skilled Level

This program aims to prepare manpower to the Skilled Level .The period of this program is determined according to the requirements of specialization, not less than two terms and not exceeding four terms, 700 hours for each term. The applicant for this program must have completed the 10th grade, and not younger than 16 years old. The graduate is given a certificate in skilled level after completing the requirements of the training program and passing the standard test.

 

3.        Training Program for the Craftsman Level

This program aims to prepare manpower to the Craftsman Level .The period of this program is determined according to the requirements of specialization, not less than two terms and not exceeding four terms, 700 hours for each term. The applicant for this program must have completed a Secondary School Certificate. The graduate is given a certificate in the Craftsman Level after completing the requirements of the training program and passing the standard test.

 

4.        Applied Secondary Education Program

This program aims to prepare manpower to the Skilled Level .The period of this program is 24 months. The applicant for this program must have completed the 10th grade, and not younger than 16 years old. The graduate is given a certificate in Applied Secondary Education and a certificate in the Skilled Level after completing the requirements of the training program and passing the standard test.

 

5.        Safety Supervisors Program

This program aims to prepare participants to work as vocational safety supervisors in work places according the requirements and safety instructions issued from Ministry of Labor. The applicant for this program must have completed a Secondary School Certificate.

 

·            Upgrading Programs

 

1.        Technical Upgrading Programs

These training programs aims to upgrade participants’ skills in their occupations. Instructors, Training Officers and Training Engineers in the VTC as well as other institutions and in industries.

 

2.        Instructor Training Programs

These training programs aim to train Instructors, Training Officers and Training Engineers in the VTC as well as other institutions and in industries.

 

3.        Supervisory Training Programs

These training programs aim to train industrial supervisors who are working in both public and private sectors.

 

4.        Occupational Safety and Health Training Programs

These training programs aim to train instructors, supervisors and engineers who are working in both public and private sectors.

 

5.        Drivers Training Programs

These programs aim to train drivers of various classes and raise their skill level. This program was adopted in cooperation with the Public Security Department.
